The commune of Lacanau located on the Aquitanian coast at about fifty kilometers at the North-West of the agglomeration Of Bordeaux, between the point of Low register and the Basin of Arcachon belongs to what it is agreed to call the peninsula médocaine.
A ground of life, rest, and of reproduction for more than 300 species of birds.

         

  
 
One of the oldest cities of the littoral had a tormented history. Established at the origin in edge of the Ocean, Lège had to migrate by successive jumps towards banks of the Basin and the channel of the ponds because of the stranding of which it was victim on several occasions.

Thus, with some steps of the Peninsula of Light-Cape Ferret, from which it became the administrative capital, the town of Light makes today vis-a-vis the astonishing natural reserve of Meadow-Salted which dominates the northern point of the Basin of Arcachon.

For as much, the beach of Large Crohot continues to offer to the visitors all the pleasures of the Ocean. The beauty of this beach, where sea, dunes and forest follow one another in A besides done - small irony of the history - one of the most appreciated places this part of the Atlantique coast.
